Assistant Manager - In Plant Fuel Management

Overview and Role Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager in In Plant Fuel Management role involves leading efforts to ensure operational and maintenance excellence within a power plant environment, specifically focusing on coal handling and equipment reliability. The role demands strong oversight of maintenance processes, inventory management, budgeting, sustainability compliance, and the implementation of digital and automation advancements to optimize plant performance.

Key Duties

• Track and improve key performance indicators such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTR), and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to maximize equipment availability.
• Carry out calibration and vibration analysis to maintain equipment reliability and operation of Auto Coal Sampler Unit (ACSU) to ensure precise sampling.
• Manage work orders related to painting, structural reinforcement, and corrosion prevention to preserve plant infrastructure.
• Support root cause analyses (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and job safety analysis (JSA) by providing detailed information to proactively address risks and hazards.
• Oversee spare parts inventory management prioritizing critical and essential equipment, minimize non-moving inventory, and maintain store operations for uninterrupted workflow.
• Contribute inputs for budgeting to promote cost-effective operations and identify opportunities for expense reduction without impacting safety or performance.
• Ensure adherence to various management systems and guidelines including IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA, Six Sigma, ABEM, and LAKSHYA across the department.
• Maintain compliance with preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for equipment, ensure correction of priority one breakdowns (P1 defects), and uphold environmental, health, and safety standards.
• Lead initiatives on digitization and automation aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies through process improvements and technological adoption.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as Operations & Maintenance, Port teams, and Business Development, as well as external suppliers to align business objectives and plant operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BE/B.Tech) is required.
• A minimum of four years of experience managing maintenance functions within heavy industries, ideally in coal handling or power generation sectors.
• Preferred background includes working in power plants, mining, or other heavy industrial operations focusing on coal handling systems.
