Role Purpose
The Assistant Manager position in Control & Instrumentation (C&I) for Boiler systems is crucial for ensuring operational excellence, system reliability, and continuous operation of related equipment through diligent maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management and field maintenance of all C&I systems related to boiler operations such as firing systems, mill fans, ASLD, CAMS, and MOVs ensuring availability and functionality.
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, scheduled overhauls, and calibrations of boiler and auxiliary equipment to avoid failures and sustain optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly to maintain continuous power plant operations.
- Collaborate with inter-departmental teams to reduce maintenance delays and maximize equipment uptime.
- Support root cause analysis, failure mode effect analysis, and zero forced outage initiatives to improve system reliability.
- Ensure compliance with Management of Change (MoC) protocols for safe and effective modifications.
- Perform regular backups of Boiler PLC and auxiliary control systems to safeguard operational data.
- Guide and supervise contractor technicians during routine maintenance tasks in line with set checklists.
- Manage Flue Gas Discharge (FGD) systems to maintain environmental compliance standards.
- Contribute inputs toward spare parts inventory, procurement, and managing documentation including as-built drawings.
- Champion organizational guidelines such as IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA to foster safety, sustainability, and process compliance.
- Lead safety training initiatives, enforce safety protocols, report hazardous conditions, and maintain zero-accident objectives.
- Implement digitization and automation strategies to enhance efficiency and adopt innovative technological improvements.
Stakeholder Interaction
Engage extensively with internal departments including Environment & Sustainability, Techno Commercial, Operations & Maintenance, Security, Stores, and Support Functions, as well as external vendor partners.
Educational and Experience Requirements
Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or equivalent. A minimum of six years’ experience in control and instrumentation within power plant boiler operations or related process industries is essential.
