Role overview
This position is a structured development opportunity aimed at preparing future leaders in golf course maintenance. Based at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, the role runs as an 18-month programme where the selected candidate will build hands-on expertise in turf care, irrigation, equipment handling, agronomy, leadership, and overall course presentation.
Reporting line and programme length
The role reports to the Golf Course Superintendent or the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The contract is designed as an 18-month structured development programme.
What you will do
- Contribute to the day-to-day upkeep of golf course areas such as greens, tees, fairways, and bunkers.
- Use turf maintenance machinery safely and carry out basic upkeep of the equipment.
- Assist with irrigation checks, minor repairs, and water management activities.
- Take part in aeration, renovation work, and preparations for tournaments.
- Support landscape, horticulture, and environmental improvement initiatives.
- Build practical knowledge of turfgrass care and agronomic best practices.
- Help with assigned projects and progressively move into greater supervisory responsibility.
- Maintain strong standards of safety, professionalism, and course appearance.
Requirements and profile
Candidates should either be studying or qualified in Turfgrass Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a similar field, or bring relevant experience in golf course maintenance. The role also calls for good communication, teamwork, a positive approach, and a willingness to learn. Since the work is outdoors, applicants must be comfortable with flexible schedules, including weekends and public holidays. Prior experience in golf course maintenance will be considered an advantage.
Career development
After completing the programme successfully, candidates may be considered for future positions such as Assistant Superintendent or other supervisory roles in golf course maintenance.
