Job description

About the Company

Mondrian Singapore sits in Duxton Hill, an energetic part of Singapore positioned between Chinatown and the Central Business District. The property is surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars, galleries, and independent shops, and is designed as a bold, contemporary hotel in a fast-evolving neighborhood.

Role Overview

Working under the direction of the Assistant Executive Housekeeper, or another manager appointed by the hotel, you will oversee room attendants and linen porters to ensure guest rooms, corridors, fire exits, stairways, service spaces, and the uniform conveyor system are kept clean, orderly, attractive, and well maintained across the floors and areas assigned to you.

Key Duties

  • Direct room attendants’ task allocation so coverage across the shift remains complete.
  • Give additional floor-based duties to room attendants and house porters where needed.
  • Review the room-status system regularly throughout the day for the latest updates.
  • Inspect and sign off the required number of guest rooms to the hotel’s standards.
  • Escalate rooms that are not to be serviced, marked Do Not Disturb, or double-locked by afternoon, and record them in the handover.
  • Document and report maintenance issues discovered in rooms or assigned areas, and coordinate with Maintenance and Reception for out-of-order rooms.
  • Ensure rooms’ soft furnishings and décor remain in line with required standards.
  • Oversee deep-cleaning programs and replacement work.
  • Check arrival, departure, and VIP lists each day.
  • Inspect VIP rooms, confirm they are cleaned properly, and make sure VIP amenities are replenished.
  • Manage the daily issue and tracking of keys and bleeps for departmental staff.
  • Confirm each floor’s linen and supply cupboards are properly stocked with linen, cleaning materials, and guest supplies, coordinating with the linen room and valet team when required.
  • Keep public areas and back-of-house spaces clean.
  • Support stock counts for housekeeping items when needed.
  • Help monitor housekeeping controls such as lost property, key handling, security, emergency procedures, and health and safety to support guest satisfaction and business performance.
  • Take part in weekly inspections to ensure facilities remain in strong condition through preventive maintenance and careful management of FF&E.
  • Develop and apply green practices that reduce waste and energy use.
  • Immediately report valuable lost property to security and record all lost items and packages.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, questions, and complaints, following through until resolved or referred appropriately.
  • Assist colleagues with related duties whenever required.
  • Support special projects and assignments instructed by the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Prepare timesheets, rosters, and holiday schedules according to business requirements when needed.
  • Prepare purchase orders when required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable project, task, or request from the department head or hotel management.

Workplace Culture and Benefits

The hotel promotes a lively working culture and values diversity and inclusion. Team members receive a 5-day work week, staff meals, laundry support, comprehensive insurance coverage, flexi benefits for dental and optical needs, and a staff discount on rooms and food & beverage.
