Job description

About the Role and Agency

Join a dynamic agency where every day presents new opportunities to tackle significant challenges impacting consumers and businesses. Collaborate with dedicated professionals from diverse backgrounds on meaningful projects, including pivotal ICT programs such as Australia's first National Anti-Scam Centre and the government's reform of the merger regime — the most substantial changes in 50 years. The ACCC fosters a high-performance culture grounded in care, inclusion, and mutual support. Employees are empowered to work flexibly, autonomously, and courageously, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing.

Flexibility is embraced with positions available full-time, part-time, or job-sharing, and roles can be performed from any Australian capital city or Townsville.

Applicants from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations peoples, individuals with disabilities, and those from different cultural communities, are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the Chief Information Officer and ICT leadership on operations, service delivery, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives pertaining to ICT shared services.
  • Lead the provision of ICT services to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), meeting agreed service levels and stakeholder expectations.
  • Manage contracts and strategic partnerships with external ICT vendors and service providers to ensure reliable, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Oversee the financial management of service delivery, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Provide leadership and expert guidance on ICT policies and operational practices to foster consistent, customer-centric service delivery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize ICT services, processes, and operating models by engaging stakeholders and assessing future business needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of a diverse ICT service portfolio encompassing end-user support, infrastructure, data centre operations, telecommunications, digital storage, and enterprise applications.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented, adaptable leader capable of addressing complex business challenges and communicating complex concepts clearly and concisely. Able to excel in a fast-moving technical environment with limited supervision, you will demonstrate leadership skills, strategic thinking, and resilience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in ICT or equivalent practical experience managing operational or service delivery functions.
  • Broad experience in service operations and managing intergovernmental service arrangements.
  • Proven application of ITIL, Agile methodologies, and service management frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills, including report writing and delivering presentations.
  • Analytical and critical thinking proficiency, with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Familiarity with financial governance and administrative processes such as budgeting, procurement, and quality assurance.
  • A results-driven mindset with resilience and a proactive approach to solving problems.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience administering ServiceNow.
