Assistant Director (Safety Review)

Role Overview

This position involves leadership in planning and carrying out targeted systems reviews within the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) under the Inspector-General's Office (IGO) Systems Review Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed plans for systems reviews.
• Lead and manage a team to coordinate review activities and maintain communication with involved formations.
• Utilize strategic and analytical thinking to evaluate complex challenges and issues at the systems level within MINDEF/SAF.
• Build and maintain effective engagement with senior-level stakeholders across various formations.
• Deliver presentations outlining review findings and actionable recommendations.
• Facilitate coordination among multiple stakeholders, balancing competing priorities to ensure thorough and impartial reviews.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of systems and processes within MINDEF and SAF.

Challenges

• Lead comprehensive SAF-wide systems reviews covering a variety of complex and unfamiliar domains, necessitating strong systems-level insight and quick assimilation of intricate MINDEF/SAF issues.
• Manage teams and stakeholder relations with objectivity and discipline to uphold review integrity.

Candidate Profile

• Educational background and qualifications pertinent to Safety Management, Workplace Safety and Health, or organizational management.
• Minimum of 12 years’ professional experience in managing projects that involve multiple stakeholders and require balancing trade-offs.
• Advanced strategic and analytical reasoning abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated capacity to engage effectively at all seniority levels.
