Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha is presented as an upscale lifestyle property in Doha with a distinctive hospitality offering, lively entertainment, and all-inclusive food and beverage concepts. The hotel features 378 well-appointed guest rooms and aims to deliver a luxurious guest experience. The business is looking for an energetic Assistant Director of Sales to join its team.
Role summary
This position focuses on driving sales for the government and corporate segments, building strong account relationships, and supporting the hotel’s commercial objectives through structured market coverage, coordinated sales activity, and timely customer follow-up.
Key responsibilities
- Identify potential accounts, set targets for key customers, and prepare account plans using past performance data, market information, and customer discussions.
- Represent the hotel and/or region at domestic and international trade fairs in line with the hotel’s business and marketing plan, working with regional or corporate sales teams as needed.
- Place primary focus on the domestic market, including local travel trade and corporate business.
- Handle international market activity in coordination with the Country Director of Sales and in line with internal rules.
- Work with hotel operations to manage room availability during high-demand periods, noting that final approval of availability rests with hotel operations management.
- Maintain the right business mix to protect product quality and reduce long-term dependence on any single market segment.
- Hold regular coordination meetings with Rooms Division, Reservations, and Food & Beverage teams to share information and resolve issues.
- Reduce administrative load while still completing at least 5–7 in-person sales or courtesy visits each day and 10 telephone sales or courtesy calls daily.
- Ensure all incoming messages, including inquiries, requests, offers, and confirmations, are answered promptly and within the required time.
Additional information
- Track staff vacation and public holiday balances each month and submit a consolidated report to the Director of HR.
- Stay familiar with all relevant company documentation, especially the Operational Standards Manual for the area of responsibility.
- Take on Duty Manager responsibilities when assigned.
- Support task force teams for new hotel openings when required.
- Perform other reasonable duties as requested, even if not explicitly listed.
- Press releases, public relations activities, and advertisements are handled and coordinated by the Country Director of Sales.
- Electronic Distribution Systems are maintained and updated regularly by hotel operations.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Marketing or a diploma in vocational hospitality is required. The role also calls for 8 to 10 years of experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
