Job description

About The TEAK Fellowship

The TEAK Fellowship is a decade-long enrichment initiative aimed at empowering students from underprivileged communities in New York City through rigorous after-school and summer education, cultural experiences, college and secondary school counseling, internships, and solid support systems. TEAK graduates gain admission to top academic institutions without debt and are prepared for impactful leadership and community service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Dean for TEAK, providing academic guidance and social-emotional support to approximately 35 seventh and eighth-grade Fellows.
  • Function as Class Dean during the Summer Institute, managing student progress concerns, field trip coordination, and staff responsibilities.
  • Contribute to TEAK’s programs by participating in committees, Saturday events, and additional organizational duties.
  • Participate actively in cross-department efforts, including reviewing applications and letters of recommendation as part of the Admissions Committee.
  • Oversee an off-site afterschool program, including logistical coordination and digital classroom management (Google Classroom).
  • Manage and publish grade reports for the Middle School Academy and Summer Institute using Salesforce.
  • Maintain updated and accurate student records, tracking attendance, grades, engagement, and plans for success.
  • Provide direct instruction during the school year and summer, teaching Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and either Humanities or Mathematics sections.
  • Offer ongoing academic and emotional support through regular check-ins, success planning, and individualized interventions, utilizing Salesforce for documentation.
  • Serve as liaison for Fellows’ families with regular communication, scheduled meetings, and counsel coordination as necessary.
  • Assist with administering an additional TEAK program connected to the Middle School Academy, such as Cultural Arts, Mentorship, Fellows Forum, or Career Programming.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in education or nonprofit sectors.
  • A genuine commitment to TEAK’s mission, core values, and equity objectives.
  • Strong organizational, written, and interpersonal skills emphasizing precision and collaboration.
  • Ability to be proactive, flexible, and a cooperative team member.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace tools including Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Experience and familiarity with Salesforce for data management.
  • Openness to integrating AI technologies to enhance program operations.
  • Preferred fluency in Spanish, Chinese, and/or Bengali languages.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or possess a valid work visa.

Compensation
