Role Overview

The Assistant Director of Admission contributes to enrolling a first-year class of approximately 545 students through a comprehensive recruitment strategy managing over 5,000 applications annually. This position involves communicating the College’s vision to prospective students, families, and educational partners both on campus and through travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel for 6 to 8 weeks annually across assigned regions in fall and spring to engage with high schools, delivering tailored presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Manage recruitment logistics including scheduling visits, coordinating with school counselors and educational bodies, and maintaining outreach to prospective applicants and families.
  • Collaborate in developing and executing strategic admission programs and initiatives.
  • Represent Mount Holyoke nationally and potentially internationally at recruitment fairs, conduct interviews, and lead in-person and virtual group information sessions.
  • Review and evaluate applications from designated areas and provide personalized support to applicants in these territories.
  • Utilize data analytics to assess the success of recruitment and selection efforts, preparing annual reports with recommendations for process improvements.
  • Undertake additional projects and tasks as assigned to support department goals.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate respectfully with a diverse range of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytic communication skills, with a strong aptitude for public speaking and engaging large, varied audiences including students, families, and counselors.
  • Proven competence in data-informed decision making.
  • Insight into the value of liberal arts education within the context of a women's college, with effective communication skills emphasizing this perspective.
  • Comfort with independent travel and enthusiasm for interacting with high school students.
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor are essential to manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in college admissions, either as a student intern or entry-level professional.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with selective college admissions and the use of Technolutions Slate CRM.
  • A passion for women's colleges and gender-affirming communities.

Additional Information

Evening and weekend work is expected during peak recruitment and selection periods. Physical demands include lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds and standing for extended durations (1 to 4 hours) during recruitment events. The salary range for the position is $50,602 to $55,662, contingent on experience.
