Role overview

KITH Kids is hiring an energetic Assistant Designer to help the children’s apparel team across several product categories and seasonal drops. This position blends creative support with day-to-day design administration, working alongside the Senior Designer to transform ideas into finished product. It is well-suited to an early-career designer who understands apparel design, connects with the KITH brand aesthetic, and enjoys learning in a fast-moving environment.

Work location and schedule

This role is based at HQ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and is 100% on-site. The position is full-time.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $55,000 to $65,000.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Designer with CAD sketching, technical package preparation, bill of materials creation, and scaling artwork for seasonal and collaboration-based collections.
  • Record detailed notes during weekly fittings to capture design feedback and production actions.
  • Help assemble accurate sample and submission comments throughout production.
  • Keep master files, sketches, and shared folders current and well organized.
  • Coordinate with overseas partners during the development and production process.
  • Maintain and organize fabric libraries.
  • Create and develop new trim artwork for seasonal work.
  • Research trends and market direction to inform concept development.
  • Support sample, trim, and fabric development from concept through execution.
  • Help manage several product categories and seasonal timelines at once.
  • Take ownership of selected styles across multiple collections as assigned.
  • Balance weekly tasks and changing deadlines while adapting to shifting business needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teammates in the office and abroad.
  • Develop project coordination skills and communicate professionally with internal teams, vendors, and development partners.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in apparel design.
  • Hands-on experience creating tech packs.
  • Prior exposure to PLM systems is preferred.
  • Strong ability to use Adobe Illustrator and create CAD sketches.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Good note-taking skills.
  • Working knowledge of garment construction.
  • Familiarity with fashion textiles and industry terminology.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adjust quickly as needs change.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating clearly and professionally with both internal and external partners.
  • Positive contributor to team culture.
  • Ability to use discretion and protect confidential information when needed.
  • Experience with 3D design software is a plus, though not required.
