Position Overview
Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District is seeking an Assistant Curator of Plants and Education to support activities at Conservation Garden Park, focusing on plant curation and conservation-oriented educational programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Senior Horticulturist to maintain and update the living plant collection and associated database including descriptions, inventory management, labeling, and photographic documentation.
- Develop and deliver educational programming targeted at youth and adult audiences, including guided tours and curriculum creation.
- Assist the Digital Content Coordinator in producing educational materials for social media platforms.
- Support the Outreach Coordinator in organizing and executing educational programs during garden events.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have completed two years of college coursework in horticulture, environmental science, education, or possess a comparable degree. Essential knowledge includes general horticultural principles, botanical nomenclature, and plant curation techniques. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with the public effectively are required. Being detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn are important traits. Basic photography and videography skills are advantageous.
Employment Details
This role is part-time, with up to 32 hours weekly from August through October. The start and end dates are adaptable based on candidate availability. Work hours will vary and may include daytime, evenings, Saturdays, and certain holidays.
Compensation
The hourly wage ranges between $17 and $20.
