About LAS Art Foundation and the Role

LAS Art Foundation is a Berlin-based non-profit organization that fosters innovative artistic practices in an age dominated by technology. Since 2019, LAS has collaborated globally with artists, intellectuals, and institutions to ignite groundbreaking ideas and deliver avant-garde projects, from quantum computing and outer space to AI, ecology, and biotech. The foundation's offerings include installations, performances, educational programs, publications, and research initiatives.

We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Curator to join our Curatorial team under a one-year fixed contract starting from September, with potential for extension. This research-driven position, held in close coordination with the Head of Programme, involves enriching and developing programme strands, commissions, and public offerings through interdisciplinary inquiry and project coordination. The role supports shaping innovative questions, forging strategic partner relationships, and contributing to LAS’s evolving curatorial and research methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive research on core thematic areas: artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous systems, interspecies relations, planetary futures, quantum and biotechnologies, new governance structures, digital world-building, alterfuturisms, and consciousness in the context of socio-technological shifts.
• Assist in conceiving and advancing new curatorial concepts informed by ongoing investigation, spotting emerging trends, and identifying relevant creators and advancements aligned with LAS's vision.
• Develop and maintain robust networks among artists, researchers, scientists, technologists, academic entities, communities, and industry stakeholders.
• Contribute to LAS's knowledge-sharing practices and research strategies, including leveraging innovative platforms and digital tools.
• Manage and expand LAS’s digital resource repositories.
• Prepare and deliver presentations and reference materials essential for programme development.
• Support planning and implementing diverse programmes by coordinating communication between internal teams, artists, external collaborators, and partners.
• Manage editorial schedules, contributions, production timelines, and critically review project textual content across websites, exhibits, and printed materials.
• Ensure and advocate for accessibility standards across projects and help create associated resources.
• Assist with organizing public engagements such as talks, tours, workshops, online projects, and educational activities.
• Promote outreach and audience interaction initiatives to broaden impact.

Who You Are

• You have 2 to 4 years of professional experience bridging contemporary art and technology sectors.
• You possess a proven track record of interdisciplinary research and translating complex ideas into accessible, clear curatorial narratives and formats.
• You have experience supporting artistic commissions, research and development initiatives, exhibitions, or public programming.
• Your writing, editorial, and presentation skills are excellent.
• You demonstrate strong project management capabilities, adept at juggling multiple tasks and timelines efficiently.
• You are fully proficient in both German and English, spoken and written.
• You have legal eligibility to work in Germany.
• You are deeply curious about intersections among art, science, technology, and societal impact.
• You excel at connecting concepts across disciplines and tracking emergent cultural and technological trends.
• Your research and analytical abilities are outstanding.
• You are confident and skilled at forging collaborative relationships across artistic, academic, and scientific spheres.
• You communicate effectively with clarity and empathy.

Employment Conditions and Workplace Culture

• The role is full-time (40 hours per week) on a one-year contract with possibility for extension.
• Location is Berlin, Germany, with up to two remote workdays per week.

• First interview stage with Senior People & Culture Manager.
• Second interview with Head of Programme and CEO & Co-Founder.
• Final round meet-and-greet with Curatorial and broader teams in person.
• Offer stage upon successful completion of interviews.
