An expanding beverage business in Melbourne is looking for an Assistant Buyer to support the growth of a premium imported wine range. The role is based in Melbourne CBD and offers a hybrid arrangement with 2 to 3 work-from-home days each week. The advertised salary is $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation.

What you will do

• Identify internationally sourced wines that are commercially attractive and likely to perform well with Australian customers.
• Develop and maintain productive partnerships with overseas wineries, brokers, and trade representatives.
• Negotiate trading terms, pricing, order volumes, and exclusive supply arrangements with producers based overseas.
• Prepare, monitor, and refine a category plan for the imported wine range using data and commercial performance insights.
• Track market and consumer trends to uncover new premium opportunities and category gaps.

Success measures

• Deliver growth in revenue and margin across the imported wine portfolio.
• Build a reliable pipeline of exclusive and appealing international producers.
• Support strong category health by improving sell-through, stock turnover, and customer satisfaction.
• Become a trusted internal specialist for the wine category.
