Role overview

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is looking for an Assistant Athletic Director to support its Athletics Division in Platteville, Wisconsin. This full-time, on-site position centers on NCAA compliance, revenue growth, and sports administration. The role calls for someone who is highly organized, comfortable managing several complex priorities, and able to work across multiple stakeholders. Pay is based on the candidate’s education and experience.

Key responsibilities

This position supports the athletics program through compliance oversight, fundraising coordination, and day-to-day event and sport administration.

  • Monitor and support adherence to department policies, NCAA bylaws, WIAC rules, and any other conference regulations that apply to the university.
  • Contribute to long-term planning efforts for the athletics department.
  • Build, manage, and track the compliance system used to maintain institutional control of the athletics program.
  • Guide coaches on recruitment, admission, initial eligibility, and continuing eligibility certification for student-athletes.
  • Act as a connection point between the athletics department and internal/external stakeholder groups.
  • Oversee the CRM system and help ensure it is used effectively.
  • Support leadership in preparing and releasing compliance reports in line with laws and regulations.
  • Review procedures, audit processes, and serve as a point of contact for affected units and related organizations, including issuing required notices.
  • Work with other compliance specialists across the institution to evaluate processes and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with the Athletic Director and Foundation on the Pioneering Forward Athletics Fund and other department-wide revenue efforts.
  • Coordinate with coaches on sport-specific fundraising plans across all athletic programs.
  • Help maintain a structured friends-and-family letter and mailer process for all programs with head coaches.
  • Support the Athletic Director in managing multiple revenue streams.
  • Serve as event manager for home athletic events and other athletic department events.
  • Help prepare facilities for events and handle post-event clean-up.
  • Manage game-day operations, including hiring, scheduling, and supervising game management staff, security, crowd control, ticketing, and concessions.
  • Handle reconciliation, deposits, cash management, and inventory for ticketing and concessions operations.
  • Coordinate student staff employment, including hiring, training, payroll, and scheduling for athletic event and office workers.
  • Act as a liaison for coaching staff student workers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of event security standards, game management best practices, and food safety rules for concessions.
  • Assist with event planning and complete special projects assigned by the Athletic Director.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have at least 2 years of experience in higher education or athletics leadership.

  • Familiarity with budgetary guidelines and fiscal responsibility.
