Job Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Dubai team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role involves supporting the Purchase Ledger team to accurately process supplier invoices and manage outgoing payments, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the Accounts Payable mailbox and reconcile ledger accounts to ensure accurate posting of bills and payments.
- Ensure timely payments and verify invoices with appropriate documentation before processing.
- Perform data entry of invoices and general ledger and handle credit card, expense, and Caxton card transaction verifications.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable functions by coordinating with project teams to prepare customer invoices per contracts and issue Statements of Account.
- Raise sales invoices, collaborate with regional teams, and manage overdue invoice collections.
- Perform accounting reconciliations including intercompany group accounts and maintain month-end files for balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare financial entries such as revenue, expenses, payroll, accruals, prepayments, and journals.
- Reconcile supplier statements and organize supplier payment runs.
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly VAT and WHT reports and assist with audit preparations.
- Update fixed asset registers regularly, including asset disposals, additions, and depreciation.
- Set up contractor salaries and supplier payments through HSBC accounts.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by Finance Manager or Financial Controller, including audit assistance and process improvements.
- Support operational and administrative teams to increase efficiency in the Procure-to-Pay process.
- Commit to health, safety, environmental protection, and uphold quality and professionalism aligned with company standards.
- Identify training needs and engage in development opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- AAT Level 2 certification or equivalent experience in accounting roles.
- Proven accounting experience with excellent software administration skills.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
