Job description
Role overview
This position supports the Accountant in keeping financial records accurate across several Group cost centres. The role focuses on making sure transactions are checked and authorised promptly and that all work follows the organisation’s policies and procedures.
Accounting and reconciliations
- Assist with month-end activities for Central Overheads, including accruals, prepayments and journal entries prepared in line with the applicable accounting rules and internal processes.
- Keep the balance sheet up to date and perform reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and the Soft 4 database.
- Help prepare monthly management accounts for RI 1927 PLC Co 1000 by WD6.
- Support the creation of monthly reporting packs for Legal, Co Sec, Finance and Property cost centre managers.
- Contribute to the quarterly slide deck and supporting summaries for the Finance and Legal quarterly business review.
- Prepare and reconcile the cashbook for the RI 1927 PLC Barclays account each month.
- Produce simpler month-end MMA schedules.
- Assist in responding to audit questions.
Other duties
- Draft detailed process documentation for the Reporting team, including the key controls used in each area.
- Carry out additional tasks as needed on an ad hoc basis.
Requirements
- Currently studying toward ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or a similar professional qualification.
- An A-Level, or an equivalent qualification, in a numerical subject is required.
- Experience working in accounting within a large corporate setting would be an advantage.
- Exposure to financial reporting and knowledge of GAAP and IFRS is beneficial.
- Comfort using finance and accounting systems, including Excel and ERP tools, is needed.
