The role is suited to someone who is detail-focused, well-organized, calm under pressure, patient, independent, and confident working in a busy retail setting. You will work closely with store leadership to reduce shrink, strengthen asset protection awareness, and support overall profitability through investigation, prevention, and compliance.
What the role involves
- Prevent, identify, and respond to theft and fraud in retail locations.
- Work with other Asset Protection Representatives on provincial or national organized retail crime matters when needed.
- Liaise with local police services on a regular basis.
- Carry out internal investigations and gather evidence that may be used in court or arbitration.
- Spot shrink risks and compliance gaps in day-to-day operations.
- Develop strong relationships with store leadership through meetings and team huddles, and help coach colleagues on asset protection policies and procedures.
- Take part in store audits.
- Represent the store at community events.
- Be available for rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, with a 40-hour work week.
Required qualifications and experience
- A valid provincial Security Guard Licence is required.
- You should understand the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, and powers of arrest, along with CCTV and surveillance systems.
- Working knowledge of Windows-based tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook is expected.
- A professional, approachable, and friendly manner is important.
- Strong initiative and integrity are needed to succeed in a fast-moving environment.
Compensation and benefits
The hiring range is $22.00 per hour.
Additional support includes reimbursement of annual security licence costs, in-house learning and training, tuition assistance, a 10% colleague discount, a company-matched pension plan, health benefits, and an employee stock purchase program.
