Role Overview

The role involves contracting as an Assessment Writer to develop independent assessments across various vocational programmes such as health and wellbeing, sport, and work readiness. Assessments will cover NZQA Levels 2 to 6 and must be suitable for the target learners, comply with relevant standards, and align with approved programme documentation. This contract is expected to last about three to four months, starting in August 2026 or earlier if agreed, requiring adequate availability to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create student assessments and tutor marking guides referencing NZQA-approved course documentation.
  • Ensure assessments clearly correspond with programme and learning outcomes.
  • Prepare any additional materials necessary to support assessment documents.
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts and internal teams to fully understand assessment needs.
  • Integrate feedback and implement revisions diligently.
  • Deliver precise, high-quality assessments within set timelines.
  • Comply with NZQA, moderation, and education compliance standards in all materials.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience writing tertiary-level assessments and tutor resources for NZQA Levels 2–6.
  • Background in assessment design for adult vocational education.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NZQA standards, including graduate outcomes, learning outcomes, and assessment criteria.
  • Familiarity with moderation processes and education compliance obligations.
  • Ability to interpret approved programme documentation and produce relevant, clear assessments.
  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to learner-centered resources.
  • Receptive to feedback and capable of swiftly incorporating necessary changes.

Preferred experience with unit standards 11551, 11552, and 4098 is beneficial.
