Role Overview
Global Freight Services, affiliated with Li & Fung, is seeking a dedicated Asia Pacific Head for Product & Procurement to lead their regional buying, carrier management, and product strategies across multiple transportation modes including sea, air, road, rail, and intermodal. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Asia Pacific, this leader will implement global buying strategies with strong regional execution, ensuring competitive capacity and pricing. Collaboration with Country Heads will be pivotal to support sales growth and deliver reliable services to consumer-brand customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional procurement operations securing favorable rates, capacity, and commercial terms across ocean (FCL/LCL), air, road, rail, and intermodal transport.
- Develop and manage relationships with carriers, master co-loaders, consolidators, GSAs, and partners throughout Asia Pacific.
- Oversee regional rate negotiations, tenders, contracts including annual agreements and spot buys, balancing cost-efficiency, service reliability, and quality.
- Ensure regional capacity and allocation meet demand during peak seasons and disruptions to avoid shortages for countries and customers.
- Collaborate with Country Heads to align market needs with competitive buying and product offerings, particularly in sea and air freight.
- Provide quick, precise pricing support for tenders, RFQs, and key customer opportunities, maintaining a disciplined rate management system to uphold margin protection.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of multi-modal freight products tailored for Asia Pacific trade, identifying new services, lanes, partnerships, and procurement opportunities consistent with growth plans.
- Monitor and analyze regional market trends, rate shifts, capacity changes, and regulation impacts to inform business strategies.
- Ensure regional procurement and product activities align with global strategy while considering local market conditions.
- Lead and mentor the regional product and procurement team, implementing effective processes, supplier scorecards, and governance mechanisms.
- Act as a trusted consultant to executive leadership and collaborate extensively with regional Country Heads.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of freight forwarding experience with leadership roles in procurement, pricing, and product management spanning multiple transport modes, with strong emphasis on ocean and air.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating carrier and co-loader contracts and managing networks of origin partners in Asia Pacific.
- Well-established and credible relationships with carriers, co-loaders, and GSAs in the region.
- Strong commercial insight with expertise in buy/sell dynamics and margin management.
- Experience in leading regional or multi-country teams.
- Adept at working in fast-paced, lean, entrepreneurial environments with a strategic mindset and practical execution skills.
