Job description
Position Overview
As an Art Teacher for grades K-5 at Dallas Independent School District, you will develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with district curriculum standards and showcase documented preparation. Your lessons will be tailored to accommodate diverse student learning styles, adhering strictly to guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustees, and local administrative regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and execute lesson plans reflective of district curricula ensuring preparation evidence is documented.
- Adapt lessons to support varying learning styles among students.
- Present instructional content compliant with TEA and district policies.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies and maintain discipline standards.
- Establish and administer systematic student evaluation methods as mandated by state and school policies.
- Continuously monitor, record, and report students' progress to parents as required.
- Teach within prescribed grade-level course content.
- Prepare detailed lesson plans including those to be used by substitutes when necessary.
- Deliver diverse learning experiences through various media and instructional methods to engage students efficiently.
- Identify and support students with health, attitude, or learning challenges in collaboration with professional staff.
- Offer counseling before and after school hours to students and their parents.
- Engage with the community by representing educational programs at events like open houses and PTA meetings.
- Coordinate and oversee the responsibilities of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
- Collaborate with administrators to establish evaluation systems compliant with district standards.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete all required reports and documentation.
- Attend worksite regularly and punctually, as required by campus-based position policies.
Working Conditions
The work environment generally features a moderate noise level and requires travel within the district. Onsite presence is mandatory for all campus-based roles; remote or alternative working arrangements are not permitted for this position.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements appropriate for art and assigned grade levels.
- General understanding of curriculum and instructional methodologies.
- Ability to execute routine tasks effectively while following established instructions.
- Knowledge and insertion of classroom management principles.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving educational challenges.
- Commitment to stay updated on developments within the teaching profession.
