Job description
About Gabb
Gabb is focused on bringing childhood back to life through safe technology that helps families stay connected without exposing kids to the risks of an unrestricted smartphone. Its products include Gabb Phones and Gabb Watches, along with digital offerings such as Gabb Music and Music+. The company is based in Lehi, Utah, and builds step-by-step technology experiences designed specifically for kids.
Role Overview
Gabb is looking for an Art Director to guide the brand’s visual direction across every customer-facing channel, including product, packaging, website, social media, email, paid campaigns, and retail. This person will set the creative bar, lead the design team, and translate brand strategy into visuals that build trust with parents at first glance.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on building scalable creative systems. The Art Director will shape the visual language, create workflows and templates that support growing output, and ensure every asset remains consistent, high quality, and aligned to both brand and performance goals. The role reports to the Sr Director of Marketing & Creative and works closely with marketing, product, and retail teams.
Creative Direction and Brand Leadership
- Set and uphold the visual direction of the Gabb brand across all customer touchpoints.
- Develop campaign concepts, visual frameworks, and creative direction that support business goals.
- Lead the creative execution for promotions, product launches, marketing initiatives, and brand campaigns.
- Review and approve creative assets before they are published or produced to ensure brand consistency.
Multi-Channel Creative Oversight
- Guide creative work across channels such as advertising, landing pages, email, social media, packaging, and marketing materials.
- Make sure each asset supports performance goals while staying true to the brand.
- Help build scalable production, versioning, and testing processes as creative volume increases.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, coach, and grow the design team while setting standards, expectations, and workflows.
- Create and maintain templates, brand systems, and creative frameworks that improve efficiency and consistency.
- Manage digital asset organization, accessibility, and version control.
- Provide guidance and feedback on motion graphics and animation work.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with stakeholders across the company to understand needs, develop solutions, and present creative ideas.
- Handle several projects at once while keeping pace with deadlines and shifting priorities.
Creative Performance and AI Innovation
- Use performance data, testing results, and customer feedback to improve creative effectiveness across channels.
- Support experimentation and optimization to strengthen creative outcomes.
- Evaluate and adopt AI-based creative tools and workflows that improve efficiency and output, while following company rules for responsible AI use.
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or a related field. They should bring 8+ years of professional design experience, including at least 2 years in a creative leadership role, plus a portfolio that demonstrates strength in branding, advertising, print, and digital design.
Strong working knowledge of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace, and current creative tools is expected, along with the ability to take a project from concept to final delivery. The role also calls for excellent creative judgment, visual storytelling, communication skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment with many priorities. Experience with AI-powered creative tools is also important.
Helpful additional experience includes work in direct-to-consumer, advertising, or technology; familiarity with web design, UX/UI, motion graphics, photography, and content production; exposure to performance marketing and creative testing; and experience weaving AI into creative workflows.
Who You Are
- A guardian of brand identity who can preserve consistency while pushing the visual language forward.
- A systems-focused thinker who can create templates, standards, and workflows that scale quality.
- A leader who stays close to the work while developing and guiding a team.
- Comfortable using data to judge both creative quality and business impact.
- Self-directed and effective in a fast-changing environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Genuinely interested in Gabb’s mission and the family technology space.
