Job description
About the Company
The organization is focused on building AI systems that are dependable, understandable, and controllable, with an emphasis on safety and broad societal benefit. Its teams bring together researchers, engineers, policy specialists, and business leaders to develop AI products responsibly at scale.
About the Role
This position is for an Art Director who will shape the visual expression of Claude across brand campaigns. The role is highly hands-on and involves developing ideas from a brief, pitching them effectively, and carrying them through to completion. You should be equally comfortable ideating on a whiteboard, guiding a photo or video shoot, and briefing outside agency partners. Some work will be produced internally, while other campaigns will be led through external agencies, with you acting as the consistent creative lead and owner of the final output.
The role is centered on campaign craftsmanship, but it also requires strategic thinking. You will be expected to maintain a high creative standard within each campaign and also consider how the work expands the Claude brand, supports broader positioning, and connects across the business.
Responsibilities
- Design and art direct integrated Claude campaigns from the first brief through final production for digital, video, and print channels.
- Lead photo and video productions, collaborating with directors, photographers, illustrators, animators, and production teams to deliver the creative vision.
- Work seamlessly across in-house execution and agency-led production, serving as the main creative lead when external partners are involved and ensuring the work stays true to the brand.
- Create campaign visual systems and reusable creative frameworks that allow range while keeping the work clearly identifiable as Claude.
- Develop brand storytelling that transforms product features and user experiences into engaging narratives.
- Partner closely with brand and product marketing teams to turn audience insight and brand strategy into compelling creative direction.
- Protect brand consistency and continuously elevate the quality of every Claude touchpoint.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings deep campaign experience and can demonstrate a portfolio that includes concept development, art direction, and multi-channel execution. You should be comfortable on both sides of the agency relationship: building campaigns directly and guiding external teams without losing momentum or clarity.
Experience directing shoots and working closely with visual and production collaborators is important, as is the ability to shift between strategic thinking and execution without slowing the work down. A strong fit will have experience creating consumer-facing or product brand campaigns that feel distinctive, human, and memorable. This role also suits someone who is motivated by brand-building—shaping perception, deepening affinity, and raising the standard for how a company appears in the market.
You should also thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative setting where multiple campaigns and parallel workstreams need to be managed without compromising quality.
Compensation
The listed annual base salary range for this role is USD 305,000 to USD 385,000.
Logistics
- Minimum education requirement: Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
- Preferred field of study: A discipline relevant to the role, supported by coursework, training, or professional experience.
