Role Overview
The Art Director, Brand & Concepts will define the look and feel of the brand across campaigns, product launches, brand identity, packaging, stores, and events. Working closely with the Associate Creative Director, this person will help create and deliver seasonal marketing creative that is visually compelling, emotionally engaging, and grounded in mountain life.
This position calls for a creative leader with strong conceptual thinking as well as the ability to execute polished work. The right candidate should be comfortable presenting ideas to senior leadership and directing lifestyle photo and video shoots with photographers, stylists, filmmakers, models, and athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and refine the brand's visual identity, including guidelines, logo usage, typography, color, and design standards.
- Build creative systems that keep the brand consistent across channels while still allowing for evolution and freshness.
- Bring a clear and original creative viewpoint so the work feels distinctly aligned with the brand rather than simply following trends.
- Lead concept development for seasonal campaigns and product launches in collaboration with the Associate Creative Director.
- Turn brand strategy and seasonal briefs into strong visual ideas, from mood boards and frameworks to final assets.
- Present campaign ideas to senior leadership with confidence and a clear narrative.
- Balance bold brand-building with commercial goals and channel-specific needs.
- Direct packaging design across product categories while keeping it aligned with the brand identity.
- Create brand collateral, hang tags, labels, and print pieces that match the company's quality and aesthetic standards.
- Partner with retail and marketing teams on creative for new store openings, in-store environments, and brand events.
- Shape cohesive visual storytelling for physical touchpoints such as signage, fixtures, event graphics, and experiential elements.
- Develop storyboards and visual treatments for video and motion creative tied to campaign concepts.
- Collaborate with production partners and internal teams to bring video concepts to life in a way that stays on brand and on brief.
- Work across Brand Marketing, Digital, E-commerce, Product, and Retail teams to maintain creative consistency.
- Support creative briefs, reviews, and feedback cycles, raising the quality of the work through clear guidance and high standards.
- Mentor internal designers and senior designers through constructive creative direction.
- Manage freelancers, outside designers, and other creative partners when needed.
Skills and Experience
- At least 7 years of experience in art direction or graphic design, with work that includes brand campaigns, identity, and digital creative.
- Background with a consumer brand in outdoor, apparel, activewear, lifestyle, or a related category.
- Strong visual judgment and a distinct point of view, with the ability to recognize truly exceptional work.
- Experience directing lifestyle photo and video shoots on location and making confident decisions in fast-paced production settings.
- Demonstrated ability to develop campaign ideas from initial brief through final delivery.
- Comfortable presenting creative work to senior stakeholders and explaining the story behind the work.
- Strong understanding of how copy and visuals work together.
- Experience creating storyboards and visual treatments for video and motion projects.
- Solid command of typography, layout, photography, design systems, and brand expression across print and digital channels.
- Ability to guide designers at different experience levels with a collaborative and mentoring approach.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, plus comfort working with emerging AI creative tools.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and effective in a fast-moving collaborative environment.

Working Conditions and Additional Details
The role requires working in a stationary position for 75% of the workday. Travel of up to 4 to 6 weeks per year is also required.
The company offers competitive compensation that includes base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $100,000, though placement at the top of the range is not typical and final pay will depend on experience, skills, and qualifications.
