Art Director

Role Overview

The Art Director position at Buddha Jones involves leading creative teams within the graphics department to produce animated graphics, visual effects, and immersive visual storytelling for theatrical releases, TV, streaming trailers, and shorter promotional spots. Candidates should possess strong conceptual skills to create compelling visuals for various screen sizes and thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving creative environment.

Key Skills and Expertise

• Ability to effectively pitch innovative ideas to producers and clients, inspired to captivate audiences
• Passion for guiding and motivating a diverse, skilled creative team
• Adaptability in managing schedules and expectations under dynamic and fast-paced conditions
• Expertise in animation, compositing, and production using After Effects
• Proficiency in 3D lighting, texturing, look development, camera work, animation, and modeling within Cinema 4D
• Understanding of motion graphics along with entertainment advertising industry standards and practices
• Highly refined design sensibility with a demonstrated ability to both execute creative designs and direct team contributions
• Strong storytelling and conceptual abilities grounded in knowledge of film archetypes and cinematic history

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and art direct a variety of projects daily from inception to completion
• Develop and propose creative concepts suitable for any genre or format
• Oversee the creative process to ensure quality and meeting project goals
• Serve as the main communication link with producers, managing project timelines and expectations

Secondary Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to junior designers, animators, and art directors
• Apply extensive knowledge of offline and online finishing workflows, including expertise with non-standard formats and stereoscopic 3D production
