Role overview

The Windsor Forest Colleges Group is hiring an Art & Design Technician for the Creative Arts Department at Windsor College in Old Windsor. This is an all-year-round, permanent post offering technical support to teaching staff and students in creative workshops and specialist learning spaces.

The salary range is aligned to G17–G19 and starts at £24,983 up to £26,784 per year, with the final pay point depending on experience and qualifications.

What the role involves

You will support practical teaching and learning by helping learners and staff use specialist tools, materials, equipment, and studio/workshop spaces safely and effectively. The role also involves keeping stock under control, maintaining equipment, and making sure workshop resources are organised and ready for use.

This post suits someone with solid hands-on experience across a range of art and design practices, a structured way of working, and the flexibility to adapt to changing workshop needs. You should also bring clear communication skills and strong time management, as the job requires regular contact with people at different levels across the college.

Essential background

Applicants need at least a Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics (GCSE grades A-C or equivalent). A qualification in Art & Design, 3D Design, Ceramics, Fashion, Textiles, or a related creative area is also required.

Practical understanding of 3D design processes, model making, ceramics, mould making, and casting is essential. Experience with kiln use, woodworking, textiles, or digital fabrication software would be an advantage.
