About the Role
This position involves working as a mobile security officer covering multiple court and tribunal locations within Canterbury. The role demands adaptability to varying shift patterns and operational needs across sites, focusing on maintaining safety, security, and a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors and staff.
The role requires working 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, with no night shifts, covering sites within a defined radius from a base location. Responsibilities include managing access controls, monitoring security equipment, conducting searches, patrolling areas, and responding efficiently to security incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and adapt to multiple court sites within a designated area.
- Deliver a professional and customer-oriented service to all court users.
- Manage building access ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Operate equipment such as CCTV, x-ray machines, and handheld metal detectors.
- Perform searches as per established procedures.
- Conduct patrols in public and restricted spaces maintaining communication with control points.
- Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, ensuring safety and security.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all security activities and incidents.
- Assist the secure and safe movement of people within facilities.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism and compliance consistently.
Candidate Requirements
- Authorized to work in the UK with the ability to pass enhanced DBS and BS7858 security checks.
- Possession of a valid SIA Licence and relevant security experience.
- Must hold a full UK driving license and have access to a personal vehicle.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented approach to work.
- Capability to work across various sites and adjust to shifting priorities.
- Strong understanding of security processes and health and safety regulations.
- Ability to remain calm and handle challenging situations effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within public sector or regulated industries.
- Proficiency in using security technologies such as CCTV and screening devices.
