The Area FCU Manager is entrusted with overseeing the Risk Containment Unit (RCU) to ensure secure and risk-free customer onboarding, thorough investigations, and managing any ad-hoc responsibilities. The role supports the organization's ambition to establish market leadership in affordable finance through effective risk mitigation strategies.

Job Context & Challenges
The FCU Manager plays a critical role in controlling operational and fraud risks arising from both internal and external dynamics. This involves minimizing operational errors and fraud occurrences, identifying emerging risks, designing and enforcing control mechanisms, keeping pace with fraud trends and technological advancements, enhancing risk awareness among stakeholders, and implementing cost-efficient monitoring strategies. The responsibility also includes balancing stringent controls with customer convenience, updating processes to align with business and technology shifts, optimizing costs, and improving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the RCU processes including pre-sanction sampling, fraud savings and hit rates at the assigned location with monthly reporting on notional savings.
- Oversee vendor/agency management ensuring compliance with process turn-around times, cost control, MIS, and portfolio performance, including training and escalation management.
- Drive digital initiatives such as usage and monitoring of Hunter fraud detection tools, internal deduplication searches, and desktop/online market resource checks to improve fraud detection rates.
- Coordinate investigations into complex fraud cases collaborating with customers, channels/vendors, and internal teams, ensuring timely closure and feedback to strengthen processes and deterrents. Review collection data to identify gaps proactively.
- Conduct training sessions for samplers, business units, underwriters, and vendors to enhance fraud detection quality and delivery.
- Lead initiatives for capability building including face-to-face interactions and asset verification with feedback to identify new fraud triggers and improve detection methodologies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in managing fraud detection and investigative processes within NBFCs or HFCs focused on mortgage finance.
- Strong knowledge of current fraud detection methods, investigations, and analytics applicable to the mortgage lending space.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and ensure quality reporting with adherence to timelines.
- Competence in handling complex and technical fraud patterns and implementing effective operational controls.
