Job description

Company Overview

Chemetal is a longstanding, family-owned enterprise with over 50 years in business, specializing in manufacturing and distributing metal designs and laminates for interior design projects, particularly in commercial interiors. The company boasts a premium collection of metal materials sourced globally and distributes primarily via a national network of specialty building material distributors.

Role Summary

Chemetal is seeking a skilled Architectural Product Designer to join their team in Easthampton, MA. This role demands a motivated individual experienced in architectural product design or advanced millwork and metal fabrication. Candidates should be proficient with CAD and Adobe Creative Suite and possess both design and hands-on fabrication capabilities—especially with metal. The position requires in-person work at the company's Easthampton facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with architectural and design firms as well as fabricators, presenting technical design solutions.
  • Prepare, refine, and optimize vector files and toolpaths suitable for CNC machining and precision laser cutting equipment.
  • Supervise the building of physical prototypes, working closely with shop craftsmen to resolve production issues.
  • Estimate costs related to CAD and CNC projects.
  • Partner with design and sales teams to develop premium metal interior materials, including both in-house and externally sourced products.
  • Engage in hands-on fabrication processes.

Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of experience in architectural product design or high-end millwork and metal fabrication.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in CAD software and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated practical design and fabrication abilities, ideally involving metal materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Availability to work onsite at Easthampton, MA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Industrial Design.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive senior-level salary with a record of biannual bonuses tied to company and individual performance.
  • Comprehensive health and dental insurance with company-covered deductibles.
  • Generous 401(k) retirement savings plan.
