Job description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for leading the technical review, coordination, and oversight of architectural and engineering works for JTC’s multimodal transport infrastructure programs across land and maritime assets. The role ensures that designs and completed works are practical, safe, buildable, compliant, and aligned with operational requirements and the overall passenger experience.
The role provides senior technical direction across architectural, civil, structural, and related engineering interfaces throughout the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through construction, commissioning, and handover. A key focus is maintaining the quality, integrity, and operational readiness of infrastructure works in accordance with relevant local and international standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct the technical evaluation of architectural and engineering design packages for transport infrastructure projects, confirming alignment with approved standards, project scope, and operational requirements.
- Assess and endorse design solutions for practicality, safety, constructability, maintainability, accessibility, and integrated performance, with attention to multimodal operations and customer experience.
- Oversee the review and coordination of architectural and engineering works for maritime infrastructure, including marine stations, piers, jetties, waterfront transport links, passenger facilities, and related landside connections, ensuring technical compliance, buildability, safety, and readiness for operation.
- Coordinate interfaces between architectural scope and other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, systems, utilities, landscape, and public realm elements.
- Contribute technical inputs for tenders, scopes of work, contract documentation, bill of quantities reviews, and procurement assessments for architectural and engineering packages.
- Follow up on site delivery of architectural and engineering works to verify execution against approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety obligations, and approved construction methods.
- Lead and join site inspections, technical walkdowns, mock-up evaluations, and progress reviews, while identifying defects, quality gaps, and non-conformities and driving closure with contractors and consultants.
- Examine shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, design revisions, and technical variations, ensuring submissions are reviewed, coordinated, recorded, and cleared before implementation.
- Work closely with project delivery, operations, and infrastructure teams to ensure technical outcomes are integrated, compliant, maintainable, and ready for handover to operations.
- Support testing, commissioning, snagging, and readiness activities for architectural and engineering elements so that defects are resolved before service launch and handover.
- Resolve technical issues with consultants, contractors, authorities, and internal stakeholders by providing practical engineering guidance that protects progress, quality, and compliance.
- Monitor technical risks, design challenges, quality concerns, and interface conflicts affecting architectural and engineering works, and help implement mitigation actions to protect cost, schedule, and asset performance.
- Ensure all assigned projects comply with applicable local, national, and international requirements covering building, engineering, accessibility, fire and life safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a relevant field.
