About the Employer
The documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a nonprofit organization owned and funded by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse. It is responsible for the quinquennial documenta exhibition, the Fridericianum museum, the documenta archive, and the documenta Halle.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Architect (m/f/d) for documenta 16 to join our Production and Technology department at the Kassel location. This is a full-time position with a contract ending on September 30, 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the conversion of existing buildings into exhibition spaces (work phases 1 to 8).
- Plan and conduct site inspections; develop preliminary plans and cost estimates; create and monitor schedules; assist in the preparation of permit applications.
- Develop scope of work descriptions; perform cost calculation and control; participate in procurement processes.
- Contribute to the technical preparation, planning, and setup of exhibition projects.
- Coordinate with external technical service providers.
- Assist in the maintenance of the documenta Halle and Museum Fridericianum properties.
Candidate Profile
- Excellent understanding of production workflows in contemporary exhibition settings.
- Proficiency in both German and English, spoken and written.
- Experience managing large budgets.
- Confident user of standard IT tools such as CAD, 3D modeling software, and MS Office.
- Strong technical interest and engagement with current discourses in contemporary art.
- Self-starter with strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Resilient and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure.
- Enjoy working in an international environment.
- Highly committed with strong organizational skills.
- Approaches work with solution-focused and structured methods.
