Job description
Overview
We are seeking a committed Arabic and Islamic Studies Teacher to join our academic team permanently in Doha, Qatar. This role reports directly to the Head of Arabic & Islamic Studies and involves fostering a respectful and engaging learning environment rooted in Islamic values.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a respectful and stimulating classroom atmosphere for all students, including native speakers and those with special educational needs, emphasizing dignity and equity.
- Set challenging goals for all pupils regardless of background or ability and model the values and behaviors expected of students inside and outside the classroom.
- Take responsibility for student progress and achievements in Arabic language and Islamic studies by tailoring teaching plans to their prior knowledge, linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
- Encourage students to self-reflect on their learning progress and individual educational needs.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) curriculum for Arabic and Islamic education and keep up to date with pedagogical advances and scholarship in these subjects.
- Deliver well-planned, effective lessons that inspire a love for Arabic language and Islamic heritage while applying suitable homework and extracurricular tasks to consolidate learning.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying student proficiency levels, including those with SEND and gifted learners, cooperating with relevant school staff accordingly.
- Implement both formative and summative assessments aligned with MoEHE benchmarks to monitor and improve student performance, providing meaningful feedback.
- Manage classroom behavior by setting clear routines and expectations in line with school policies using consistent positive reinforcement and discipline.
- Engage proactively in wider school life by contributing to extracurricular activities, cultural events like Ramadan and Arabic Language Day, and professional development initiatives.
- Ensure student safety and Health & Safety compliance through vigilant supervision and promoting personal responsibility in the use of school resources.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature from a recognized institution.
- Possession of relevant teaching certification approved by Qatar's MoEHE.
- Minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience.
- Basic proficiency in English is required.
