Job description
About the Role
ROC PARTY CO., LTD. is a rapidly growing specialty retail business centered on party supplies, seasonal celebrations, and event-focused merchandise. As the company expands with additional store openings across the Bay Area and a broader national footprint, it is looking for an Apparel Designer to own the development of themed and seasonal clothing lines. This role will convert holiday stories and moments such as Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Easter, and other seasonal occasions into commercially viable apparel that appeals to shoppers in store.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan the seasonal apparel roadmap, including theme direction, assortment planning, and SKU strategy for major U.S. holidays.
- Monitor fashion, pop culture, social media, and competitor activity to build useful trend references and visual boards.
- Take designs from idea to production handoff, including sketches, technical specifications, color direction, print and graphic concepts, fabric and trim choices, and complete development packages.
- Create apparel that combines originality with commercial practicality so styles are attractive, sell through well, and can be manufactured at the right cost and quality.
- Work closely with patternmakers, factories, and supply chain teams on prototypes, fittings, and revisions, while keeping samples aligned with briefs and timelines.
- Review and approve final samples, complete tech packs and BOMs, and make sure bulk production reflects the intended design.
- Prepare design stories, hero messaging, and styling ideas for marketing, social, and store teams to support launches and campaigns.
- Analyze post-launch performance, customer reactions, and top-selling patterns, then use those insights to improve future collections.
Qualifications
- An associate degree or higher is required; preference will be given to candidates with Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or Textile Design backgrounds.
- At least 3 years of apparel design experience, preferably in seasonal, costume, party, or fast-fashion product categories.
- A portfolio that demonstrates trend interpretation, assortment building, and a strong commercial eye for product.
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, along with the ability to create tech packs and full development documentation.
- Practical knowledge of fabrics, trims, basic patternmaking, and apparel manufacturing workflows.
- Strong visual judgment with an understanding of U.S. holiday culture, costume styling, and consumer preferences.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage several collections at once during busy development periods.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with merchandising, marketing, and supply chain partners.
Why Join Us
- Design products that reach real store shelves and customers during meaningful holiday moments.
- Enjoy a wide creative scope across multiple seasons and themes throughout the year.
- Help establish a new in-house apparel design function from the ground up.
- Potential growth into Senior Designer, Lead Designer, and Design Manager roles as the company expands.
