Role Overview

The Apparel and Color Designer I role supports the design team across product, color, and merchandising for outerwear, sportswear apparel, and accessories for both adults and children. This position ensures an efficient, organized design process from concept through product execution, working closely with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use trend forecasting tools and engage in industry events and outdoor activities to maintain brand-aligned aesthetics.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends to guide early-season color and concept development.
  • Assist with seasonal color research and development by integrating market insights and brand standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date color and design documentation, keeping merchandising and product lifecycle management teams informed.
  • Collaborate with fabric, product development, production teams, and overseas vendors on color and sampling projects.
  • Collect visual references including photographs, reports, and samples to enhance creative direction.
  • Organize workload and deliverables following seasonal timelines and important go-to-market deadlines.
  • Explore new trims and accessories to enhance product function and retail presentation.
  • Support seasonal print layout planning to effectively communicate merchandising stories.
  • Manage print assets and prepare artwork for design use.
  • Coordinate with the Materials Manager to ensure consistency of prints and yarn dyes with seasonal color themes.
  • Support Senior Color Designer and design leadership by providing logo and graphics inspiration and assisting artwork contractors.
  • Lead the design process for accessories and logowear through their entire product lifecycle.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing based on stakeholder needs and project importance.
  • Drive design innovation proactively while upholding the brand's mission and core values.
  • Familiarity with AI and 3D design tools is advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a creative design discipline.
  • A portfolio demonstrating design capability is recommended.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in professional design roles.
  • Experience participating in the full product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to execute merchandising strategies effectively.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software.

Compensation

The position offers a competitive salary range from $55,000 to $65,000 annually, with the exact salary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. This package also includes incentives and benefits.
