About BOSRIA
Special Risks Insurance of Botswana (BOSRIA) Limited operates as a licensed short-term insurance provider regulated by the Non-bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA). The company specializes in insurance solutions covering special risks such as political, violence and terrorism (PVT) exposures. Their coverage extends to property damage, consequential losses arising from riots, civil unrest, labour disputes including strikes and lockouts, as well as innovative products addressing human-wildlife conflicts and weather-related risks including droughts and floods.
Job Objective
The Anti-Money Laundering Officer will ensure compliance with all relevant anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF), and proliferation financing (PF) laws and standards. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, execution, and upkeep of compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, while providing expert guidance and support across different business units to effectively manage AML/CTF/PF, legal, and regulatory compliance risks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in law, auditing, risk management, compliance management, economics/finance, business administration, insurance, or related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience within AML/CTF/PF compliance, legal affairs, financial services, risk management, or governance contexts.
- Certification such as Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS), International Compliance Association (ICA), or a Bachelor of Laws, or comparable AML/CTF/PF related qualification.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of AML, CTF, and PF regulatory requirements and frameworks.
- Understanding of financial services industry including insurance sector.
- Familiarity with legal aspects, compliance requirements, risk management, and governance principles.
- Excellent analytical and investigative capabilities, including statistical analysis and proficiency with tools like Microsoft Excel.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of the policies of the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) and other relevant insurance regulations.
- Basic understanding of short-term insurance products.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude.
