Role overview
This opening is for an experienced Traffic and Weather Reporter who can handle overnight coverage as both a producer and an on-air anchor. The position is based in Long Beach, California.
Core duties
- Collect local traffic updates and record the details in internal computer and web-based systems.
- Deliver traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements to the audience.
- Develop, research, and write traffic-related copy for the live shift, then polish the material using digital audio editing tools.
- Keep all reported information accurate, current, and organized, while monitoring any updates or changes.
- Work within tight deadlines to ensure traffic information is shared promptly.
- When needed, create website, blog, social media, image, audio, and video content.
Required background
- Strong familiarity with the local area, including roads, transit options, and traffic flow patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- A clear, pleasant, and confident voice with strong pronunciation.
- Prior work in a fast-moving, deadline-driven, newsroom-style team setting.
- Ability to plan work, set priorities, and manage several tasks at once in a busy environment.
- Willingness to work split shifts, with 4 hours in the morning drive period and 4 hours in the evening drive period.
- Availability to work weekends.
- Previous on-air broadcast experience.
- A college degree is preferred, though not mandatory.

Pay and benefits
The compensation range listed for this role is $19.56 to $24.45 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and market alignment.
