Job description

About the company

Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) is a major global agribusiness with operations spanning 14 countries and a workforce of more than 100,000 people. Across Indonesia, the company manages over 500,000 hectares of palm oil plantations, including smallholder farms. Sustainability has been embedded in its approach since 1997, with close collaboration across farmers, local communities, and partners to support food, fuel, and long-term progress.

The business is built on a seed-to-shelf model centered on palm oil and is also broadening into other essential crops such as sugar, soybean, sunflower, and coconut. GAR places strong emphasis on employee development through international exposure, cross-border opportunities, and ongoing learning.

Role overview

This is an early-career opportunity for someone looking to deepen their understanding of the edible oils and fats business, including its derivatives, within the Downstream Business Development and Strategic Planning team. The role is project-oriented and focuses on research, analysis, strategic recommendations, and support for both organic and inorganic growth initiatives.

What you'll do

  • Carry out research on markets, industries, and competitors to uncover trends, expansion possibilities, and strategic movements relevant to the business.
  • Help assess new opportunities through early-stage feasibility work such as market sizing, benchmarking, and broad risk evaluation.
  • Build and support financial models, business cases, and valuation work for internal initiatives, partnerships, and possible mergers or acquisitions.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and supporting materials for leadership and management discussions.
  • Assist with deal-related documentation, including organizing or reviewing data rooms, drafting investment memos, and coordinating with external advisers when needed.
  • Monitor important business performance indicators and contribute to recurring reporting on performance, strategic efforts, and project results.
  • Take ownership of developing knowledge banks for the downstream business.
  • Maintain and enhance databases, dashboards, and analytical tools used for ongoing business analysis.
  • Gather, clean, and interpret internal and external data to produce insights that support strategic planning and decisions.
  • Contribute actively in discussions by sharing observations, ideas, and analytical input.
  • Support additional project tasks as needed and help connect work across different streams.
  • Travel for business purposes when required.

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business with a Finance major, Economics, or a related discipline, with added academic or practical exposure to Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computing, Data Analytics, or similar areas.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in Management Consulting, Business Development, Business Analytics, Accountancy, or Corporate Finance, including M&A, due diligence, or valuation work.
  • Applicants with combined strengths in finance/business and analytical, data, or technology skills are especially preferred.
  • A self-driven, independent person who also works well in a team.
  • Strong command of MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Capability in financial modelling.
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Python, VBA, or Power BI is an advantage.
  • Strong English communication skills; knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
