KPMG is a leading professional services firm that supports clients on specialized engagements designed to help them work more efficiently, scale faster, and stay competitive.

This contract role sits within Financial Crimes Services and is based in downtown Toronto. It follows a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in the office, with 4 days per week in person at the start for training. Contractors are provided with a workstation and screen, and can also use the KPMG Kafe, which includes microwaves, a fridge, and coffee machines.

What you'll do

Financial crimes professionals help clients identify how money launderers and terrorism financiers may exploit weaknesses in their organizations.

• Carry out AML/KYC reviews on a periodic, quarterly, and/or annual basis using client platforms such as SAS, Actimize, Oracle, and similar tools.
• Perform enhanced due diligence, including open-source research, negative media checks, and name screening through tools such as World-Check, Lexis Nexis, and comparable search systems.
• Investigate alerts and analyze transactions to identify suspicious behavior.
• Spot red flags, RGS indicators, and unusual activity patterns that may point to criminal conduct such as money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, and related risks.
• Draft regulatory reports, including suspicious transaction reports, when findings require escalation.
• Compile case files and supporting documentation in line with client procedures.
• Collaborate with the team to meet production goals for the assigned project.

What you should bring

• At least 1 year of experience in AML investigations.
• Experience handling alerts and working through investigation workflows in a Financial Intelligence Unit environment.
• Background in preparing and submitting suspicious transaction reports to FINTRAC.
• CAMS, CFCS, or another well-recognized AML/financial crimes certification is an asset.
• Strong transaction analysis skills, sound judgment, and professional handling of confidential information.
• Working knowledge of common screening and transaction monitoring tools such as SAS, Actimize, Oracle, World-Check, Lexis Nexis, Refinitiv, and similar platforms.
• Experience working on high-risk profile cases.
• Experience with demarketing and/or remediation projects.
