Role Overview

We are seeking a friendly, motivated, and dependable Allied Health Assistant to become part of a growing team. This position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys supporting children and wants to contribute to the development of their communication skills.

The position combines flexible administrative work that may be completed from home with hands-on therapy support delivered in the clinic and at nearby schools.

You will work under the direction and supervision of a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. In this role, you will help carry out therapy activities aligned with individual treatment plans, while receiving ongoing guidance, mentoring, and training. Prior experience in an Allied Health Assistant role is welcome, but it is not essential for the right person who is eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Support speech pathology sessions for children by implementing activities from therapist-designed plans.
• Create an engaging and encouraging therapy experience through playful, purposeful activities.
• Prepare therapy tools, materials, and resources needed for sessions.
• Write session notes and keep records accurate and up to date.
• Handle day-to-day administration such as booking appointments, entering data, arranging materials, and communicating with clients.
• Keep the supervising Speech Pathologist informed about client progress and any issues that arise.
• Participate in supervision, training sessions, and team meetings when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be legally able to work in Australia.
• Must be based in the ACT.
• Current Working with Vulnerable People Check required.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle required.
• Strong people skills and the ability to communicate well with children and families.
• Good organisational ability to manage therapy materials, schedules, and documentation carefully.
• A certificate or diploma in Allied Health Assistance or a related discipline, or progress toward one, is preferred.
• Experience with children or young adults in clinical, educational, or community settings is an advantage.
• Must be committed to professional conduct and client confidentiality.

Work Arrangement

This is a part-time position based onsite, with some administrative tasks that can be completed remotely from home.
