Job Overview

The role involves ensuring that airside facilities at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport are maintained at optimal levels, monitoring and auditing airside activities to promote safe and efficient aircraft operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of movement areas to uphold safety and operational standards.
  • Provide follow-me services facilitating aircraft and vehicle movements on the airside.
  • Carry out audits during aircraft turnaround procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and support work services conducted within the airside environment.
  • Enforce airside safety regulations rigorously.
  • Deliver training related to Airside Duty Procedures (ADP) to external stakeholders.
  • Oversee surveillance of all airside movements including vehicles, aircraft, and personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and current departmental records and documentation.
  • Initiate emergency responses as needed and perform preliminary investigations of incidents or accidents.
  • Manage wildlife and obstacles to maintain operational safety.

Communication and Coordination

This role requires interaction both internally and externally. Internally, coordination is necessary with departmental managers and heads to ensure efficient airside operations. Externally, the officer liaises with customs, immigration, airport security, federal police, airline engineers, air traffic control, ambulance services, wildlife control, pilots, meteorological department, ADNOC, aviation authorities, and other airport stakeholders to guarantee smooth and safe airside activities.

Educational and Professional Requirements

  • Graduation degree required.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers, senior management, government bodies, and emergency services.
  • In-depth knowledge of GCAA regulations.
  • Certification in airside operations management.
  • Proficiency in Safety Management Systems (SMS), health and safety regulations, airport emergency plans, accident and incident investigations, and airside standard operating procedures.
  • Basic auditing skills relevant to airside operations.

Experience

A minimum of five years' experience managing airside operations is essential.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Compliance with safety protocols outlined in the Aerodrome Operations Manual and Safety Management System.
  • Adherence to safety training requirements.
  • Prompt reporting of safety incidents, system failures, or potential risks to supervisors or safety department.
  • Submission of preliminary accident or incident reports.
  • Participation in safety audits and investigations as required.

Competencies

  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of communication ability.
  • Extensive knowledge of GCAA regulations and Safety Management Systems.
  • Skilled in health and safety regulations, emergency planning, and incident investigation.
  • Familiarity with airside standard operating procedures and basic auditing.
