Role Summary

The Airfield Maintenance Manager at Red Sea International Airport will be accountable for guaranteeing the safe, reliable, and effective management of airside facilities. This includes overseeing strategic maintenance programs, managing facilities management (FM) contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing asset lifecycles, and leading a multidisciplinary team. The role also focuses on driving continuous improvements, bolstering operational resilience, supporting sustainability projects, and mentoring future talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all FM and outsourced service providers to ensure service level agreements are fulfilled with prompt issue resolution.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and upkeep of all airside facilities, assets, and infrastructures.
  • Manage asset administration in accordance with ISO 55000 standards.
  • Serve as the primary FM liaison for all airside assets and related services.
  • Plan and execute maintenance activities to maintain safe, clean, and efficient airside operations.
  • Maintain critical airside infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, aprons, pavements, signage, drainage systems, substations, generators, airfield ground lighting (AGL), security systems, ground support equipment (GSE) areas, rescue and firefighting services (RFFS), air traffic control (ATC), meteorological (MET) facilities, and unmanned aircraft base (UAB) facilities.
  • Coordinate specialized outsourced engineering and infrastructure assistance as necessary.
  • Handle planned and reactive maintenance for all airside and general aviation facilities.
  • Engage regularly with government and customs officials regarding airside maintenance operations.
  • Support the upkeep of AGL systems and signage.
  • Collaborate with project teams on scope definition, risk evaluations, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation, including drawings and manuals, is current and maintained.
  • Oversee computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) systems and preventive as well as corrective maintenance scheduling.
  • Maintain strict compliance with Saudi laws, ICAO/GACAR regulations, and all applicable airside policies.
  • Formulate standard operating procedures (SOPs) concerning maintenance, safety, and emergency protocols.
  • Prepare detailed monthly reports on maintenance activities and management performance.
  • Coordinate the annual master maintenance plan and pursue ongoing optimization of processes.
  • Manage FM contracts, staff, contractors, and internal departments effectively.
  • Deliver cost-efficient solutions focused on extending asset lifecycles.
  • Supervise inventory management, optimizing reorder processes in collaboration with procurement and warehouse teams.
  • Identify innovative technologies and implement cost- and energy-saving initiatives.
  • Set and review objectives for teams aligned with overarching airport business strategies.
  • Oversee staff recruitment, training, development, mentorship, and ensure succession planning readiness.
  • Conduct manpower planning and encourage continual professional advancement.
  • Maintain awareness of latest trends in engineering, facilities management, and airside operations.
  • Support emergency response efforts and manage operational disruptions efficiently.
  • Provide training for Saudi engineering graduates as required.
  • Ensure all personnel comply with safety, security, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor and report on incidents, near misses, and hazards to guarantee prompt responses.
  • Contribute to environmental goals by enforcing the Environmental Management System and applying sustainable principles to reduce risks and enhance efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng) from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Facilities Management, Airfield and Pavement Management, and Contract Oversight.
  • Over 10 years of relevant professional experience in facilities management roles of comparable responsibility.
  • Hands-on experience in airside operations, including airfield ground lighting systems, building services, and civil infrastructure maintenance.
  • In-depth knowledge of airside regulations, including ICAO and GACAR standards.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
