Opportunity Overview
This position is for a detail-focused and analytical AIC Officer who will help deliver Australian Industry Capability outcomes for Austal Defence Australia. The role works alongside the AIC Manager and Supply Chain teams to review, analyse, and report on contract expenditure while supporting compliance with Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement requirements.
You will also contribute to the growth of Australian industry by tracking supplier performance, interpreting data, and helping drive initiatives that strengthen local supplier participation and capability.

Key Duties
- Oversee and update AIC reporting systems, including tracking of Australian Contract Expenditure (ACE).
- Review contract spend and check supplier AIC claims for accuracy.
- Track the movement from ICE to ACE and assess overall AIC results.
- Help identify ways to lift Australian industry participation.
- Maintain ICN Gateway work packages and support supplier engagement activity.
- Assist with procurement business cases and related reporting needs.
- Guide suppliers on AIC responsibilities and compliance expectations.
- Support audits, reporting tasks, and communication with stakeholders.
- Help coordinate AIC meetings, events, and documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
- Highly developed analytical ability and a strong eye for detail.
- Background in handling data, preparing reports, or undertaking financial analysis.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI.
- Experience with ERP platforms, with IFS seen as an advantage.
- Good organisation and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Capability to work autonomously while balancing multiple priorities.
Preferred Background
- Previous exposure to procurement, supply chain, or industry engagement work.
- Understanding of Australian Industry Capability or sovereign capability programs.
- Experience in defence, manufacturing, or engineering settings.
- Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
