Position Overview

We are seeking a talented AI Researcher to join our expanding AI team. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, deployment, and enhancement of machine learning (ML) and large language model (LLM) powered services that drive intelligent automation and AI-enhanced product experiences across the Workato platform. Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and design teams, you will define product metrics and evaluation criteria, design customer experiments, and analyze results to provide actionable recommendations. This role demands a balance of strong ML/LLM expertise, software engineering proficiency, and hands-on experience building scalable, reliable AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance AI services utilizing LLMs and custom ML models tailored for production environments.
• Oversee the full product lifecycle of ML/LLM systems from initial prototyping through deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• Produce high-quality, maintainable, testable, and efficient Python code.
• Advance validation, system observability, and performance monitoring focusing on quality, latency, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, platform engineers, and stakeholders to deliver AI-driven features.
• Diagnose and optimize existing AI implementations by identifying performance bottlenecks, bugs, and enhancement opportunities.
• Create and analyze controlled experiments (such as A/B tests) to validate AI product features and extract meaningful insights.
• Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews to uplift overall engineering standards.
• Iterate on model behaviors, including prompting techniques, retrieval, tool integration, and orchestration methodologies to refine user experience.

Required Qualifications

• At least three years of experience developing and evaluating AI/ML prototypes.
• Experience with AI systems involving tool-use agents or context-aware workflows.
• Proven background in building AI products within enterprise SaaS environments.
• Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies and statistical significance assessment.
• Knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps tools and best practices, including monitoring, evaluation pipelines, model rollout strategies, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience working with modern data warehouse technologies such as Amazon Redshift and Snowflake.
