About the Role
This opportunity offers an on-site internship based in Perth, Australia within a company specializing in artificial intelligence research and development. The position provides practical exposure to machine learning and deep learning applied to innovative research and prototyping projects, encouraging collaborative work with engineers and researchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI-enhanced computer-aided design workflows, including automating component layout, wiring paths, and panel configurations focused on optimizing space, costs, and thermal characteristics.
- Create intelligent product configuration systems to facilitate quick custom panel design for clients or sales teams.
- Design and utilize AI models to simulate load and fault scenarios, aiming to minimize overdesign and improve safety.
- Implement predictive maintenance solutions leveraging sensors and AI to forecast equipment failures in machinery such as CNC machines and punch presses.
- Forecast inventory requirements using AI to balance raw material availability and avoid excess or shortages.
- Apply AI-powered computer vision techniques for quality control inspections, monitoring wiring integrity, enclosure finishes, and assembly precision.
- Optimize production schedules dynamically by balancing workloads, minimizing downtime, and adapting to changes in supply and workforce.
- Forecast sales demand through analysis of historical sales and market trends.
- Automate the generation of quotes by analyzing prior pricing, components, and labor data to deliver accurate cost estimates.
- Automatically produce datasheets, compliance documentation, and wiring diagrams derived from order inputs.
- Monitor and recommend improvements for factory energy consumption using AI-driven analytics.
- Develop AI chatbots to support customers by answering frequent questions and helping with troubleshooting.
- Create intelligent dashboards that track project progress, highlighting potential delays or overruns.
- Use AI for personalized marketing campaigns by analyzing customer behavior to send targeted emails and promotions.
- Employ AI to automate compliance verification of panel designs against international standards (IEC, UL) before manufacturing.
- Offer AI-enabled monitoring tools post-installation for end users to detect unusual patterns or issues.
Qualifications and Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, AI, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming skills in Python along with experience using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Solid grasp of machine learning and deep learning principles, including model training, evaluation metrics, overfitting issues, and optimization techniques.
- Legal eligibility to work in Australia with the necessary visa or work permits for on-site internship participation.
- Preferred experience includes direct involvement in projects or coursework involving model training, hyperparameter tuning, or experimental research.
- Familiarity with tools and platforms like Git, Jupyter notebooks, Linux command line, containerization, and experiment tracking is an advantage.
