Agronomist - Tamil Nadu

Role Overview

This position focuses on evaluating maize crop availability across designated areas of Tamil Nadu, building strong connections with farmers, and supporting silage production activities. The job is field-heavy and involves travel, crop inspection, farmer interaction, and coordination with leadership to set up decentralized production locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field visits to locate and assess maize crops across assigned regions in Tamil Nadu.
• Explain silage production to farmers and help them understand its value and use.
• Advise farmers on appropriate seed choices and cultivation practices suited for silage output.
• Track maize availability and share timely updates with management on possible sourcing zones.
• Support the identification of practical sites for remote silage production units.
• Work with internal stakeholders to establish and run decentralized production facilities.
• Discuss crop procurement pricing and production cost considerations with farmers.
• Check crop quality and confirm that it meets silage production standards.
• Provide ongoing support to the management team in crop sourcing and farmer coordination.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a closely related discipline. Prior exposure to agronomy work in the seed or agriculture sector is preferred. A sound understanding of maize cultivation and crop management is important, along with the ability to communicate clearly with farmers and field staff.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of experience in agronomy, seed operations, crop advisory, or agricultural field roles.

Travel Requirement

This role involves frequent travel throughout Tamil Nadu to inspect crops, interact with farmers, and help establish remote production sites.
