Job description
About the Role
This position is focused on supporting agricultural and forestry development in Chad. The local farming landscape is still shaped by simple, traditional cultivation practices, largely because access to practical know-how is limited. Heavy rainfall repeatedly causes crop losses, and food security in the region continues to worsen. The role is intended for a professional who can help local communities adopt improved farming approaches.
Profile
- Completed vocational training or a degree in agriculture or agronomy
- At least 2 years of professional experience
- French language skills and, if possible, the willingness to learn a new language
- Strong intercultural awareness and social competence
Responsibilities
- Train smallholder farmers in ecological farming methods
- Support the trained farmers as they take on a multiplier role in their communities
- Design and establish an agricultural training program for young people and women
- Advise local communities on constructing grain storage and water storage facilities
What We Offer
- A role within government-backed development cooperation
- Comprehensive social benefits
- Language and intercultural preparation before deployment
- Professional guidance and ongoing support
- Living allowance in line with the Development Workers Act
