Job description
About the Role
This position is for a seasoned Learning & Development professional to lead the Centre of Excellence for a large manufacturing organisation based in Visakhapatnam. The role is individual-contributor in nature and carries responsibility for shaping the capability-building roadmap across several manufacturing sites.
You will work closely with Plant HR, business leaders, functional heads, and site L&D teams to create, roll out, and track learning programs that strengthen workforce skills, support business outcomes, and help build the future leadership pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement the yearly learning and development plan in line with business goals and manufacturing priorities.
- Carry out annual training need identification across plant and corporate teams, and manage the learning calendar accordingly.
- Build and update technical competency models for critical manufacturing positions, working with plant leadership to address capability gaps.
- Lead initiatives that improve technical, functional, behavioural, leadership, and managerial capabilities across the organisation.
- Oversee development paths for engineer trainees and high-potential employees, including succession planning, mentoring, coaching, and internal trainer development.
- Promote the use of LMS and digital learning tools, and turn learning data into insights for leadership review.
- Create methods to assess training effectiveness, business value, and return on investment, and share regular dashboards with senior stakeholders.
- Handle external training vendors, budgets, and service quality while ensuring effective use of resources and compliance with processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Postgraduate qualification such as MBA or PGDM in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organisational Development, or a closely related area. An engineering degree is considered an advantage.
- Overall HR/L&D experience of 10 to 15 years, especially within manufacturing environments.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, or Organisational Development.
- Demonstrated success in creating and delivering learning programs at scale.
- Strong knowledge of competency frameworks, leadership development, learning analytics, and digital learning systems.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the L&D direction for a major manufacturing business, with the chance to build a long-term impact and grow into wider leadership responsibilities across multiple locations.
