Job description
About CompassX Group
CompassX Group is a specialized business and technology consulting firm assisting Fortune 500 and rapidly growing companies in executing critical strategic initiatives, ranging from enterprise-wide transformations to digital and data-focused projects. With more than 15 years of demonstrated success, CompassX serves diverse sectors including financial services, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, consumer goods, and quick service restaurants. Recognized multiple times as one of the best boutique firms to work for and among fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., CompassX values impact, autonomy, and close client relationships.
Role Overview
We are collaborating with a global manufacturing client to drive operational transformation on a site-by-site basis. The Agile Product Coach will partner with the CompassX program manager to master and then deploy our proven transformation playbook across multiple plants. This role focuses on implementing new technologies, methodologies, and improved work practices, engaging stakeholders and end-users throughout the process. Extensive travel within the United States and the Americas is mandatory, ideally from a location near a major transport hub.
Core Responsibilities
- Apprentice under the lead consultant to understand the established transformation approach before independently rolling it out at new plant locations.
- Coach both leadership and frontline teams on Agile practices tailored for manufacturing environments, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog management.
- Facilitate sessions fostering team accountability and independence rather than reliance on coaching.
- Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, workflow obstacles, and handoff issues on the manufacturing floor and between departments.
- Provide one-on-one coaching to team leaders and site managers, focusing on mindset evolution as well as procedural changes.
- Lead adoption initiatives for new workflows across all plant staff, including those resistant to change.
- Monitor transformation effectiveness through metrics such as velocity, adoption levels, and team maturity; report regularly to the lead consultant.
- Offer detailed post-implementation support to ensure sustainable change and help plants develop internal capabilities to maintain new practices.
- Engage in significant domestic and regional travel within the Americas with possible international trips to EMEA/APAC regions.
- Execute the existing transformation playbook without designing new methodologies; adapt and report progress and obstacles as directed.
Required Qualifications and Traits
- Practical experience with Agile frameworks, supported by certifications and a background rooted in product or software development rather than exclusive Agile consulting.
- Experience transitioning from conventional to Agile delivery models firsthand.
- Proven skills in facilitating Agile ceremonies and overcoming resistance, particularly translating Agile principles into manufacturing or non-software contexts.
- Ability to follow directional leadership and implement proven methodologies effectively, acting as a tactical executor rather than a strategist.
- Exposure to manufacturing settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Personable, easygoing, and collaborative with an aptitude for working smoothly with leadership teams.
- Willingness and ability to undertake frequent extensive travel within the US and Americas, with potential global travel.
- Must possess valid US passport and be currently residing in the US.
Additional Information
The position offers significant autonomy within a smaller firm environment that values the impact and voice of its consultants. CompassX prioritizes direct engagement with local clients and communities. Hiring decisions consider experience, qualifications, engagement type, and market factors. Compensation will be arranged as hourly rates or contracts and is influenced by expertise and business needs. Travel costs incurred during client site visits will be reimbursed. The role is structured primarily as an independent contractor (1099).
