Role Overview
The Aged Care Personal Care Assistant will deliver essential personal care and assistance to residents either in a facility based in Sydney, NSW, or in their homes. Responsibilities include supporting daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support, while honoring each individual's privacy and autonomy. The role involves aiding with meal preparations and hydration, monitoring health status, and immediately alerting senior or clinical personnel to any changes.
Additional duties cover ensuring cleanliness and safety of living spaces, facilitating social and recreational engagements, and adhering strictly to care plans along with organizational policies related to infection control and safety. This position requires teamwork within a multidisciplinary setup, meticulous care documentation, and transparent communication with residents, their families, and team members to maintain consistent and quality care.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant certification such as Certificate III in Individual Support or an equivalent credential, along with current first aid and CPR training.
- Proven experience in delivering personal care involving hygiene, mobility, continence, and nutritional support within aged or community care environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to foster respectful and supportive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Competency in implementing care plans, maintaining thorough records, and complying with safety and infection control policies.
- A compassionate, patient, and dependable demeanor committed to person-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite in Sydney, NSW, including flexibility for rotating shifts, weekends, and public holiday duties.
- Understanding of aged care regulations, resident rights, and safe manual handling; prior experience in residential aged care is advantageous.
