Overview

This position requires placement in Saudi Arabia within the Eastern Region Fuels Department, responsible for overseeing a portfolio of downstream joint ventures. The department supports Aramco's strategy for downstream expansion by ensuring collaboration with strategic partners, maintaining disciplined financial management, and operational excellence in managing joint ventures.

Role Summary

The chosen candidate will focus on managing, developing, and optimizing the performance of high-value downstream joint ventures. Expertise in profitability improvement, cost containment, and value maximization is essential, along with prior experience handling joint ventures in the energy sector. The role operates under the guidance of senior affiliates professionals to provide analysis, develop and apply solutions, and ensure compliance for affiliates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight and management of assigned joint ventures to align with Aramco’s investment and financial targets.
  • Act as Aramco’s representative on JV Boards, Shareholder meetings, and Steering Committees.
  • Ensure that JV strategies and performance align with Aramco’s business goals and shareholder interests.
  • Analyze affiliate agreements and governance structures; advise boards and stakeholders accordingly.
  • Interpret board resolutions and produce corresponding reports and recommendations.
  • Assist senior affiliates staff in monitoring compliance with policies and governance frameworks.
  • Lead financial modeling and scenario analyses for transaction assessments and ongoing JV evaluations.
  • Supervise financial performance, capital budget management, and alignment with budgets.
  • Conduct commercial and financial benchmarking to uncover opportunities for value creation.
  • Monitor market trends and implement best practices within the affiliate portfolio to boost business outcomes.
  • Identify growth prospects consistent with the downstream strategy.
  • Support transaction processes including commercial due diligence, valuation modeling, business case development, and negotiation with partners.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial terms for shareholder, offtake, feedstock, and service agreements jointly with legal and technical teams.
  • Lead negotiations and stakeholder engagement efforts while spearheading information gathering and reporting.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external JV partners and their management.
  • Mentor junior staff to cultivate the next generation affiliate management expertise.
  • Contribute actively to knowledge sharing and process enhancement projects within the department.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Business, or Finance from an internationally recognized program, plus a Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or Management.
  • At least 10 years of experience in downstream oil and gas sectors, including minimum 5 years specializing in commercial strategy, joint venture management, mergers and acquisitions, or new business development.
  • Proficiency in portfolio management, financial valuation, modeling, due diligence, commercial negotiation, and transaction execution demonstrated in prior roles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of shareholder agreements and governance models.
  • Proven skills in leading negotiations, influencing senior-level stakeholders, and managing complex joint venture relationships.
  • Solid understanding of company financial analysis, valuation principles, commercial transaction basics, and various transaction structures.
  • Experience developing junior team members and fostering a culture committed to performance and knowledge sharing.
