Adjunct Faculty, Humanities, Dual Credit 26/27

Position Overview

This adjunct faculty role involves teaching humanities courses effectively and maintaining office hours to support student consultation. The position is on-site, with an opportunity to apply for a hybrid work schedule after six months of employment. Faculty must maintain on-campus presence even when delivering online classes per state regulations.

Compensation and Schedule

Compensation is on an hourly basis under classification H02, varying by program and contract. All employment follows the faculty position type and is exempt under United States labor laws.

Essential Duties

• Provide students with a written syllabus for each course.
• Engage in the evaluation and continuous improvement of instructional methods using innovative strategies.
• Contribute to discipline development by recommending curricular materials, revising curricula, and advising on teaching assignments.
• Keep accurate and complete records of courses taught.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities agreed upon with divisional leadership and collaborate with colleagues to meet common goals.
• Respect and value collaborative processes and diversity of students' learning styles.
• Participate in student advising and registration processes.
• Utilize technology to facilitate learning, access data, maintain records, and communicate effectively.
• Meet professional obligations in line with the academic calendar and contracts.
• Adhere to institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and student conduct codes.
• Tie engagement to the college's mission by participating in planning, budgeting, committees, commencement ceremonies, and other college-wide activities.
• Undertake self-assessment and professional development, completing required training hours annually.
• Support community engagement and marketing efforts, and maintain effective communication with campus and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to student organizations and diverse community activities as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned to support the college’s goals.

Required Qualifications

• For credit transferable courses: Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
• For workforce education degree or certificate programs: a blend of academic preparation plus three years of relevant non-teaching work experience.
• For developmental education courses: Bachelor’s degree or higher in the teaching discipline with demonstrated competence through teaching experience, honors, or graduate coursework.
• Preference for bilingual or multilingual candidates.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective student interaction.
• Experience engaging with diverse populations through formal training or previous work.
• Competence in providing quality customer service.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
